about

One of my dad’s most stirring fiddle compositions was written during a State Department tour of Belarus we made in 2006. I’ll never forget him sharing the tune in a quiet hotel hall the day after we had visited the Khatyn memorial, site of a Nazi massacre and a stark reminder of the brutal occupation by Germany during WWII, which saw several million people, including more than half a million Jews, killed in Belarus alone. Vermont jazz ace, Tom Cleary, provides the delicate piano obligato to my guitar arrangement.

about

William Lee Ellis Memphis

"There's no one else playing exactly the same sort of music as William Lee Ellis," said legendary producer Jim Dickinson of the Americana/blues master acoustic guitarist. "It's as if he's invented his own sort of 'holy blues' genre."
