Another blues-veiled tune composed during that 2014 tour of China. The melody was penned in Guangzhou and the title bestowed on our final night in Shanghai, when musical brother-in-arms, Larry Nager, suggested that the restaurant where we were dining, Lost Heaven, would make a splendid title for the plaintive instrumental. The opening strains are me in the Shilin Stone Forest, figuring my way around a yueqin, or moon lute, built by an incredible Yi musician, Zhao Ben Rong, busking that day for the tourists. The distinctive pentatonic scale he played on the yueqin peppers my own instrumental that follows, played in a guitar scordatura, low to high, of D-A-D-F#-A-B.
